This Is Our Journey

David Brown World Champion Paralympics

A coach will take you where you can’t take yourself”

I love this video of World Champion, David Brown, and his guide, Jerome Avery, running the 100m sprint at the Paralympics.

A friend of mine who is in my High Achievers Mindset Secrets program sent it to me with the caption, “This is our journey!”

We All Need A Coach or Mentor

“Behind every fearless player is a fearless coach who refused to let them be anything but the best they can be.”

I believe that everybody needs a coach or mentor if they want to be successful.

A coach will evaluate what you are doing and give you honest feedback.

A coach will objectively point out where the gaps are in your life or in your business and help you to see how to fill them.

A coach will save you time and money along your journey by helping you avoid mistakes or going in the wrong direction.

A coach will help you to create the map you need to follow to find success. They will help you to implement success habits into your life.

Most of all, a coach will hold you accountable! This is the reason you need to have a coach or mentor that is not a family member or close friend. You need honest feedback and accountability, not someone that will accept your excuses

As a coach, it is an honor for me to be your Jerome Avery. I want to run with you and guide you to your victory. I want to help you create unwavering confidence, develop a powerful mindset, and unlock your full potential so that you can take your life, your business, or anything else you are passionate about to the next level.

Lessons For Life

“Life is like a sport. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but the game always goes on.”

Why did I create The Confident Athlete Program?

This has actually been a question that I have been asked a number of times.

Besides the fact that I love sports and I love working with athletes, there are three reasons I created this program.

The Importance of the Mental Game in Sports

Athletes that are serious about their sport put a lot of time and effort into the physical game. Early mornings and late nights in the gym or on the field. Time in the weight room and other conditioning. Analyzing game film. There is so much that these athletes do outside of their normal practices in an effort to get better and gain that edge.

The physical aspect of the game are obviously important, but it’s often the mental game that is neglected. But it is just as important as the physical part of the game.

Through The Confident Athlete Program we focus on their mental game. We help them to understand it and control it. We show them how to have more confidence, how to implement proper success habits into their life, and how to develop a powerful mindset.

The Pandemic and Mental Health

The pandemic was rough on everyone, but I believe it was the hardest on our youth. The mental trauma they went through is sad.

It was especially difficult for student-athletes who have dedicated so much of their life to the sport they love. They have spent years working and preparing so hard. During the pandemic they had seasons cancelled, delayed, and more. They were forced to wear masks during competition. Some who had hopes of playing in college had their dreams crushed.

They were made to feel that the sport they love just didn’t matter anymore.

Through The Confident Athlete Program I want them to understand that their sport is still important. I want to help them to keep their dreams alive. But I also want them to understand more about mental health and to be willing to reach out for help if it’s needed.

Module Six is dedicated to Mindset and Mental Health.

Life Lessons Beyond Sports

I’ve personally learned so many life lessons through the sports I’ve played throughout my life. My coaches all had a big impact on me throughout my life. They taught me about hard work, values, goals, and so much more.

As a basketball coach I have always felt that it’s my responsibility to look beyond the sport itself. My job isn’t just to win games. My job is to help student-athletes become great people and incredible future adults.

Everything that is taught in The Confident Athlete Program is designed to help them become great athletes and unlock their potential. But every single lesson is also designed to help them beyond their sport.

Any non-athlete could take this program and never implement any of it towards a sport and it would still be the best investment they could make in themselves.
